Class Description
October 12 & 13 10am - 12pm both days Just humans - no dogs this time, please. This 2-day workshop is designed to give dog agility handlers the tools with which to increase their own agility by working on core strength, stability and posture. What you learn will be useful not only on the turf, but in your daily lives as well. We will be set up in the “gym” area of the facility. Day 1: Begin the basics of stabilizer muscles, incorporating exercises to build awareness and strengthen the core. We will go on to cover postural muscles, and how to improve alignment to harness more efficient movement patterns and improve balance. We will also address flexibility and its role in our ability to move well in multiple planes. Exercises will be incorporated which can be easily modified to work for individuals’ needs and fitness levels. Day 2: Begin with a review of the previous day, with opportunities to practice or progress in your exercises. This will be a good time for questions and clarification. We will then cover the basics of locomotion (walking or running). We will This will lead to some human agility exercises for all levels, to put our new skills to practical use. To conclude, anyone who wishes to, may try running a course with your “virtual” dog in the arena. Please bring a water bottle, a small towel and your own mat About Jenni: I have been a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist in Austin, Texas for 25 years. I have enjoyed working with many individuals and small groups of all ages. We train in my private studio surrounded by nature. The emphasis is on developing a functional, fit and healthy body by focusing on good posture and core strength, improving balance, flexibility and stamina. Sound nutrition and a positive approach to lifestyle are an integral part of my program. Sport-specific training has been incorporated where needed. For years, I trained and competed in the equestrian sport of Dressage. I turned from the sport about two years ago in favor of Canine Agility, when my first agility dog, Elmo, was a puppy. I have enjoyed giving Rider Fitness workshops over the years, but since training in Agility, I am quickly incorporating my approach to include the intricacies of running a course with a dog. It is a challenging and fun experience! -National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer -CHEK Practitioner Level II -Mattes Method Active Isolated Stretching -Pilates Certified -TRX Trainer
